“The paintings I’ve been working on for the Arts Festival are offerings of hope. In their production I’ve watched the emergence of a trust in the future of joy and youth to carry us past these times of difficulty. Ours is a landscape rich in beautiful culture and
devastating injustices, but I have to believe each child running through their childhoods here and now, brings with them the possibility of making this world a more beautiful, more just and joyous place. Similarly, the creatures which appear in these paintings allow us to see what is good in humans through our connections to our animal friends. This anthropomorphization helps me tell the stories I want to tell of place and connection, along with the humans of various shapes sizes and hues. I hope you’ll take this offering of hope and let it comfort your journey.”
